My only complaint was that some words I tried to play werent recognized but with the new dictionary upgrade... I can still beat my husband every game.

This game is great!
I love words but hate most word games because they either dont reward you for having a good vocabulary (Scrabble encourages memorizing short, unknown words) or gameplay is too restricted (many are like Boggle, allowing only adjacent letters). In Letterpress, the board is a good size and you can play anywhere, creating more possibilities, and having a good vocabulary helps you play smart. I like the updates—Im a fan of Merriam-Webster and I love the new links to definitions. New, sleek improvements have been made without diminishing the simple, perfect gameplay. The paid upgrade allows for many matches at once. It was well worth it.
People take forever to move but still one of the best word games out here.
The profanity in the previous dictionary gave Letterpress an odd sort of charm. The new dictionary is just, well, bland. To add insult to injury, you get a mean-spirited error message on playing profanity or a proper noun.
Years after its been released, still as much fun and challenging as ever.
Love this so much that I gave up scrabble!
Loving the new upgrades, but am reserving five stars for when chat between players is added!
very buggy and now censored; this game has become an annoying chore instead of an enjoyable challenge
The most recent upgrade has made the game more enjoyable without, as the developers said themselves, no games with four Ss and 2 xs. Not as hard, but more stimulating finding long words now. Thanks.
Regarding your upgrade notes: yes, people do read these things. :-) Thank you for providing an off switch for sound. One request: you currently prevent people from playing words that are prefixes. My friends and I think you should ban any word that is a substring, regardless of where it appears in the word. Strategically much more interesting. In other words, PARKS would prevent PARK, ARKS and ARK. What do you think? PS: FLENCHERS is not a word in any source I can find, but the game allowed it.
I love this game and play it every day with a friend. However I wish you also had a version where I could play by myself and just see how many words I could come up with. I also love the change you made so that now you can create much larger words (4 and 5 letter words get boring) and that you dont constantly get qs with no us. Keep up the good work.
The letter distribution seems to have been improved in the latest update. But I am still getting errors with notifications where the badge indicates three turns waiting when Im only playing one game. Fun game, but would really like to see the notification and connectivity problems fixed.
First of all, after reading many other comments, i should say, I only ever play with people I know and they dont cheat. This definitely heightens the enjoyment. Secondly, the upgrade doesnt seem to be of particular notice. Thats not all bad since there have been seasons of problems with games not loading, but recently things have worked very well. Overall, its been a very fun game. The difficulty of the game is somewhat regulated by the board, but is also influenced by the people playing, which makes each game unique.
This app wont load on iPad. An error box says it cant connect to Game Center.
At first glance you will think the game is boring. It is NOT like the graphics intensive story games of today. That said, if you like word games that INVOLVE YOUR MIND, this is it. You exercise your brain, learn new words, and with the new update you can get the definition of any word that leaves you scratching your head. You can play dozens of games at once at a pace that works with your schedule. I highly recommend this game!
Visuals that seemed impressive several years ago still weird on 6+ devices but at least it works now.
Fun, challenging, a little strategy required to win, solid performance.
I love this game. I appreciate the recently updated dictionary. But today i tried to play the word "colored" and was not allowed to play it because it was deemed objectionable. REALLY??? The girl opened the coloring book to find that her favorite picture was already colored. So she colored another picture. The criminalization of a good word that has many appropriate applications has colored my opinion human wisdom.
Oh the horror! The horror!! No, no, the game is ridiculously good. What has me down is that Ive spent at least one pitiable lifetime pitting my pittance of a brain against some of the best competitors Game Center has to offer... And what do I have to show for it? Bupkis. Nihility. Zilch. And a lot of other words, too. What DONT I have? The mighty financial empire I could have built with those hundreds of hours I spent throwing my hat into the Letterpress ring over and over and over again. (Oh also, Im hoping the next version of Letterpress has Cheat Instinct Suppressor technology, so nobody will be inclined to use the sites designed to "help" win this game.)
